Laboratory "Georesources, Materials, Environment and Global Change" (Code LR13ES23)

The "Georesources, Materials, Environment and Global Change (GEOGLOB)" Laboratory of the University of Sfax

In the face of the major challenges posed by climate change, ecosystem degradation, the depletion of natural resources, and the growing demand for raw materials and energy, scientific research is expected to provide innovative solutions that reconcile economic development, environmental protection, and sustainable resource management. Within this context, the “Georesources, Materials, Environment and Global Change (GEOGLOB)” Laboratory conducts its research activities through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates Earth sciences, materials science, environmental sciences, and emerging technologies. Its work aims to improve the understanding of the interactions between georesources, materials, and environmental systems, while developing solutions adapted to current and future sustainable development challenges.

The laboratory’s scientific program is structured around three complementary and interdependent research projects. These projects cover the entire value chain, from the exploration, characterization, and valorization of georesources to the development of innovative materials, while also addressing environmental impact assessment, the management of natural and anthropogenic risks, and the study of the effects of global change on natural environments. This organization promotes synergies among the different research teams, strengthens interdisciplinary collaborations, and contributes to addressing national and international priorities in the fields of sustainable development.
