SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT

The GEOGLOB Laboratory has state-of-the-art technical infrastructure and advanced measurement equipment, enabling high-quality research in geo-resources, materials, and global environmental change.

Laser Particle Size Analyzer
Laser

Laser Particle Size Analyzer

Laser particle size analysis, more precisely particle size analysis by laser diffraction, is used to determine particle size, or more accurately, particle diameter. It allows measurements over a range from 0.05 to 900 µm, providing significantly greater precision than conventional sieve analysis. It is particularly suitable for polymer suspensions and for all types of powders, whether mineral or non-mineral.

X-Ray Fluorescence
Chemical Analysis

X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)

X-ray fluorescence spectrometry is a qualitative and quantitative elemental chemical analysis technique. It enables the identification and measurement of the concentrations of chemical elements present in rock and mineral samples, from sodium to uranium, providing high analytical accuracy.

Optical Equipment
Optics

Photo & Video Optical Equipment

Stereomicroscopes and polarizing microscopes equipped with high-resolution photo and video imaging accessories. These instruments are particularly suitable for detailed petrographic and micropaleontological studies, the observation of crystalline microstructures, and the digital archiving of specimens.

Bernard Calcimeter
Limestone Content

Bernard Calcimeter

This instrument enables accurate measurement of the volume of carbon dioxide (CO₂) released during an acid reaction, providing a quantitative assessment of the carbonate content in soils, carbonate rocks, and other natural materials.

Computing Equipment
Computing

Computing Equipment

Computing infrastructure is one of the key pillars of modern laboratory productivity. The laboratory is equipped with high-performance computers, computational servers, high-fidelity displays for geographic data processing and GIS applications, as well as advanced digital data-acquisition peripherals.

Map Library
Cartography

Map Library

The map library is a valuable resource for geographical and Earth science research. It contains aerial photographs, specialized atlases, and topographic, geological, soil, and botanical maps covering numerous regions of the world and spanning different historical periods up to the present day.

Magnetic Susceptibility

The laboratory is equipped with sensors for measuring the magnetic susceptibility of sediments and soils. Magnetic susceptibility is an important physical parameter used to characterize the concentration and nature of magnetic minerals. It is widely applied as an indicator of climatic and paleoenvironmental variations, as well as pedogenic processes.
